Really interesting. I have always admired these guys. Did the carcass ever draw other scavengers?
No it didn't. It was consumed by coyotes, ravens, magpies, and eagles.
Nice narrative of the coyotes interacting with each other and with the dying bison calf. I recalled in your book the docent who was so squeamish that he disapproved of your viewing a dying calf.
You're exactly right, Don. You have a good memory. One of the other volunteers had a very hard time with our watching this natural event.
