A Fall in Utah

In early October, Mary and I left Gardiner and Montana’s fall that looks much like winter. We headed south to Utah, seeking warmer temperatures, cloudless skies, fall colors, and trails to discover. In Utah’s incredibly diverse landscape we found that and more. We hiked dry desert canyons and snowy forested mountains; spotted flowers in bloom as cottonwood and aspen leaves glowed a farewell yellow; walked in a river as it meandered through narrow canyons between high, colorful, sandstone walls; and felt the quiet and powerful spirituality of immense arches and structures of ancient residents. Beautiful photos in Utah, Rick and Mary! Reminds me of the several trips we have taken there over the years. I especially enjoyed a hike into the falls at Cape Creek searching the canyon walls for glyphes and caches where indigenous peoples stored seeds. I love the accompanying music too... Ukes? Mary? Sounds like it.
